Engelman Spruce (Picea engelmannii) A narrow pyramidal evergreen that adapts itself to eastern conditions, and will grow in northern exposures in rather moist clay loam soils. This Spruce has slender, straight to slightly curved needles, varying from bluish-green to steel blue, 1/2" to 1" long. Bears cones at maturity of 1-1/2" to 3" long. Slow growing, it does not stand hot drying winds. Are beautiful as ornamental plantings, or as Christmas trees.
